Eco Fashion, How To be An Eco-Fashionista?

Eco Fashion, How To be An Eco-FashionistaImage via gospaces

Eco friendly fashion was once thought of and categorised into the hippy hey day era. That’s not the case anymore, now people are thinking of ways on how to be an eco-fashionista. Fashion designers such as Stella McCartney have paved the way for change. These days there is more knowledge into the background in which clothing is produced.

There is a lot to be made from clothing in general, there’s no doubt about that. Everybody needs clothing right? The fashion industry is definitely a profitable market.  The manufacturing of clothing can be a way of generating more sales through bad practices. The bad stories are:

child and adult workers being exploited whilst working in unsuitable conditions. Most recently the collapsing of a Bangladesh clothing factory in 2013.

toxic chemicals being used in fabrics which are both dangerous to our health’s and the environment. The use of pesticides in fabrics can even leak into water supplies.

clothing in the landfill waste has increased worldwide.

Eco Fashion, How To Be An Eco-Fashionista

  1. Recycle Your Unwanted Clothing
  • Instead of throwing your unwanted clothing items in the bin. Bring them to your local clothing bank. Most charity shop nowadays are crying out for clothes, donations of unwanted clothing won’t go a stray. I know in Ireland and the UK, Marks and Spencer’s have bins in store, where you can put your unwanted clothing. In return you receive a 5 euro voucher when you spend 50 euro or more, this excludes the food hall. It is a nice little incentive. H & M have a similar campaign running in their stores.
  • Try swapping clothes with friends and family. You would all be saving money. Many sellers on Depop are open to clothes swaps with their customers too.
  •  The Jazzing up off dull lifeless clothes by DIY can be a fun way of creating quirky        fashionable pieces. You never know, it might even turn into a hobby.

    2. Avoid Buying On The Spur Off The Moment

  • I think everyone’s guilty for doing this, especially when reductions are on. Next time you find yourself running into this situation stop and think.  Ask yourself “Do you really need this? ”  Or wait a day or two. Remember that many stores are trying to sale items that are made of cheap materials, that won’t last. With this regular pattern, you may be throwing good money after bad. Think about shopping for pieces you generally need, that may cost more but in the long run last longer.
  • Next time you have an occasion why not rent a dress. There are many boutiques in Ireland that have a dress rental service. Check the boutiques in your area.

3. Second Hand Shopping

  • Go shopping around the charity shops in your town. It’s the best way to find good quality clothing at next to nothing prices.

4. Try A Hand At Making Your Own

  • Be aware of materials that last longer. Do your research and gather eco-friendly fabrics that last. Making your own clothes is a way of being able to wear quality. Start off small. Rome wasn’t build in a day.

5. Wash Your New Clothes Before Wearing Them

  • It’s always a good idea to wash your new clothing twice before actually wearing them. Natural fabrics like cotton are included in this aswell. Chemicals such as formaldehyde are used in the production of most clothes so it’s best to beware of this.

Finding ways on how to be an eco-fashionista is fun. Green fashion has that appeal, it’s definitely wearable. With ethical brands you can ensure that they are complying with employee rights and are fair trade. Choosing green fashion brands can be challenging if your not familiar with them. How To Grow Your Eyebrows

thicker eyebrows

We have all been there, the teen years when you thought that having thin brows was cool. Unfortunately no one ever tells you that constantly over-plucking your brows just weakens the brow growth until ultimately they just don’t grow. In other words your basically just killing your brow growth which doesn’t sound so fun I know. There is a solution though.

You can grow back your eyebrows. Yes you heard that right. I have used this method myself, to correct those sparse areas where I wanted more fullness. I would stay away from the tweezers during the process you will be thankful you did, after all your trying to induce brow growth not delay it. I definitely did see results in a short space of time. I will say that everybody’s hair growth is different so just to beware of this. What works for you, might be longer or shorter for somebody else. I wanted to use a more healthy and natural way to achieve that fullness that wasn’t harmful or aggravating to my skin. While I was waiting for this growth I filled my eyebrows in with powder just to cover the area.

The miracle product I used is called Castor Oil. I would suggest getting the organic cold pressed castor oil it’s the best form on the market, with no heat being added to it resulting in no nutrient value being lost. The question is why is it good for eyebrow growth? It has high levels of fatty acids called ricinoleic acid. This triggers the hair follicles in the eyebrows to grow whilst keeping them moisturized leading to healthier growth.

Castor oil has many benefits aside from this, it’s good for fading scars, stretch marks, hair loss on head, dandruff, eyelash growth the list goes on.

Products you will need:

>Organic Cold Pressed Castor Oil

>Cotton buds

>Cotton Wool

I got the Pukka organic cold pressed castor oil. It’s best to wash off any powder or product you have on your eyebrows before applying the castor oil. You want to avoid any bacteria getting inside the castor oil or on your eyebrows so I would recommend using a disposable product like cotton buds.

I applied the castor oil about a half an hour before bed so’s that the oil soaks in to the eyebrow hair, not on to the pillow case.

Click here to see how it’s done. The first step is simply dipping the cotton bud into the castor oil. Using the cotton bud, you just gently apply the castor oil to your eyebrows. You want to massage the oil into your eyebrows to evenly distribute the product. You don’t want to end up with more hair growth in one area now that wouldn’t be nice, nope. Wipe off the excess with cotton wool.

Leave the castor oil on those brows overnight. Then when morning comes your gona wana wash it off, unless you like that greasy brow look which is ok too.🙂

I absolutely love this method and I hope you guys try this out for yourself. If you do, let me know how you get on.

Where To Get Jeans For Tall Girls?

I am a tall gal and have people ask me all the time where do I get my jeans from. And my answer is always, most stores have a tall range now both in store and online. For me though, I find buying my jeans online a better choice as I like having more styles to choose from. With the exception being Primark ( Penneys in Ireland). Their in store tall jeans range has nice styles, catering for sizes UK 6-20 with an inside leg of 34”.

These are the stores in which I like to take a peekaboo at, whilst in search for jeans:

jeans

Topshop——Their tall range caters for sizes UK 6-14 , 5’9 and over. I know that their jeans are a 34 inseam. The Topshop joni tall jeans would be one of my fave pair of jeans from their collection. They are the most comfortable high waisted skinny jeans I have ever worn (no exaggeration).

Next——Their tall range caters for 5’10 and over, sizes UK 8-20.

ASOS——-Have sizes UK 4-20 and leg lengths 34”, 36” and 38”

Dorothy Perkins—–Sizes UK 6-22 and I find the leg lengths vary sometimes, they state a 34 inseam and are slightly shorter than this.

New Look——Their tall range caters for sizes UK 8-20, 5’9 and over. Their jeans do extend quite long with a 36 inseam but it’s great, for those girls that are a bit taller.

Gap——-Sizes UK 6-16 and 5’9 and over. They are doing more of a crop style of jean at the moment. Their sale items have more of a longer length.

Boohoo—–Sizes UK 6-14 and caters for 5’7 to 5’11.

It’s nice to see that there is a great selection of stores out there right now, that have thought of designing a taller range. If your a tall girl, leave a comment below on where you get your jeans. I would love to hear🙂

Products I Currently Like

So I thought I would share with you guys, the products I’m liking at the moment.

Lavera

LAVERA ORGANIC MINT, SILICEOUS EARTH AND SALICYLIC 3 IN 1 WASH-SCRUB-MASK

This product can be used not only as a face cleanser but as a scrub and mask. The ingredients are all completely natural with plant ingredients from Lavera’s own production source. I have used all three methods and like how my skin is left after using it. The salicylic acid in it, is natural from the willow bark which I have not seen in a face wash before I tried this one. I have used face products with salicylic acid and found them extremely harsh on my skin. I was quite pleased that Lavera have brought out this in a natural form. This helps to actively clear the skin and the organic mint and siliceous earth really cleanses the skin. I found it very effective in keeping my skin that bit clearer.  Another thing I was happy about this product is that the scrub particles are free off micro plastics.

Trilogy

TRILOGY ROSEHIP OIL AND ANTIOXIDANT +

I heard so much about this oil that I had to give it a go. I was a bit worried on first application though, as I felt it was going to break out my face. To my relieve it didn’t, thank gawd. I  like to use it, after I have cleansed my face before I go to bed. It leaves my skin feeling softer, smoother and glowing. My skin definitely feels more hydrated when I wake up in the morning. It’s great.

I’d love to hear about any products that you’ve been liking lately?

How I Curl My Hair

I use alot of heat on my hair in general so before I curl my hair I always apply heat protectant spray. I use the Tresemme Care and Protect Heat Defence Styling Spray. It works really well, my hair is left shiny and soft from using it.

Tresemme

Then I just quickly brush out any tangles that may be present.

When I’m curling my hair I like to set my curling wand to 170 degrees. I find this works best with my hair type. The curling wand I use is by Remington, the Pearl Wand one which I got a while back.

Curling wand

First I part my hair down the middle and tie one half up with a hair tie.

I start with the other half of my hair. Using a hair tie to tie up sections I haven’t curled, I curl from the back to the front sections of my hair. Each section I take is about an inch.

Then I repeat this process on the other side of my hair.

I curl away from my face and wait about 14 seconds before moving onto each section.

After I have finished curling my locks. I use my fingers to break up the curls to give a more natural look. Shea butter is the next product I use. I find this locks in moisture and eliminates frizz, which is why I like to use it when using heat appliances on my hair.

Shea butter

I generally don’t use any hair spray as the curls do last all day long.

Since my hair is medium length  when straight it shrinks up when curled, so I like to add that extra length. I currently like to use the Lullabellz choc brown 16 inch 1 weft curly hair piece.

What products do you guys use, when styling?

Happy Tuesday🙂

Review & Swatches|||Bellapierre Contour & Highlight Pro Palette

Bellapierre Highlight and contour.I picked up the Bellapierre Contour and Highlight Pro Palette and it’s great that it is made from 100% natural minerals too. They have a loose powder form of this kit aswell but for contouring and highlighting I find the regular powder easier to work with.

Bellapierre Contour and highlight.

Bellapierre Contour and highlight instructions

I really like the way Bellapierre Cosmetics have step by step instructions enclosed in many of their make up products. It’s nice to know other ways to apply things. With this product it comes with a face shape chart on how to contour based on your face shape. As the colour pans are magnetic they can be easily taken out, which I found was cool if I wanted to just  bring two pans along with me rather than taking all them together.

bellapierre contour and highlight close up..

Bellapierre contour and highlight Pro Palette Swatches

The added feature of the mirror made it easier to see which areas to apply the powder which I thought was great.

My first impressions of it, was that the palette design was very similar to the Anastasia Beverley Hills contour and highlight kit, nearly identical. The powders blend very well and have a smooth texture to them. They really are top notch.

The powders also give a matte finish to both the contour and highlight. The limoncello shade mixed with the cappuccino shade is the one I use for concealing my under eye area and for highlighting, it works a treat.

For the contouring it really depends on what look I am going for on a particular day. I really like how the shades are an all rounder, you can go for a more natural contour or a more heavy contour for a dramatic look.

What products do you use to contour and highlight? I’d love to hear them🙂
