Products I Currently Like

So I thought I would share with you guys, the products I’m liking at the moment.

This product can be used not only as a face cleanser but as a scrub and mask. The ingredients are all completely natural with plant ingredients from Lavera’s own production source. I have used all three methods and like how my skin is left after using it. The salicylic acid in it, is natural from the willow bark which I have not seen in a face wash before I tried this one. I have used face products with salicylic acid and found them extremely harsh on my skin. I was quite pleased that Lavera have brought out this in a natural form. This helps to actively clear the skin and the organic mint and siliceous earth really cleanses the skin. I found it very effective in keeping my skin that bit clearer.  Another thing I was happy about this product is that the scrub particles are free off micro plastics.

I heard so much about this oil that I had to give it a go. I was a bit worried on first application though, as I felt it was going to break out my face. To my relieve it didn’t, thank gawd. I  like to use it, after I have cleansed my face before I go to bed. It leaves my skin feeling softer, smoother and glowing. My skin definitely feels more hydrated when I wake up in the morning. It’s great.

I’d love to hear about any products that you’ve been liking lately?

How I Curl My Hair

I use alot of heat on my hair in general so before I curl my hair I always apply heat protectant spray. I use the Tresemme Care and Protect Heat Defence Styling Spray. It works really well, my hair is left shiny and soft from using it.

Then I just quickly brush out any tangles that may be present.

When I’m curling my hair I like to set my curling wand to 170 degrees. I find this works best with my hair type. The curling wand I use is by Remington, the Pearl Wand one which I got a while back.

Curling wand

First I part my hair down the middle and tie one half up with a hair tie.

I start with the other half of my hair. Using a hair tie to tie up sections I haven’t curled, I curl from the back to the front sections of my hair. Each section I take is about an inch.

Then I repeat this process on the other side of my hair.

I curl away from my face and wait about 14 seconds before moving onto each section.

After I have finished curling my locks. I use my fingers to break up the curls to give a more natural look. Shea butter is the next product I use. I find this locks in moisture and eliminates frizz, which is why I like to use it when using heat appliances on my hair.

Shea butter

I generally don’t use any hair spray as the curls do last all day long.

Since my hair is medium length  when straight it shrinks up when curled, so I like to add that extra length. I currently like to use the Lullabellz choc brown 16 inch 1 weft curly hair piece.

Review & Swatches|||Bellapierre Contour & Highlight Pro Palette

Bellapierre Highlight and contour.I picked up the Bellapierre Contour and Highlight Pro Palette and it’s great that it is made from 100% natural minerals too. They have a loose powder form of this kit aswell but for contouring and highlighting I find the regular powder easier to work with.

Bellapierre Contour and highlight instructions

I really like the way Bellapierre Cosmetics have step by step instructions enclosed in many of their make up products. It’s nice to know other ways to apply things. With this product it comes with a face shape chart on how to contour based on your face shape. As the colour pans are magnetic they can be easily taken out, which I found was cool if I wanted to just  bring two pans along with me rather than taking all them together.

bellapierre contour and highlight close up..

Bellapierre contour and highlight Pro Palette Swatches

The added feature of the mirror made it easier to see which areas to apply the powder which I thought was great.

My first impressions of it, was that the palette design was very similar to the Anastasia Beverley Hills contour and highlight kit, nearly identical. The powders blend very well and have a smooth texture to them. They really are top notch.

The powders also give a matte finish to both the contour and highlight. The limoncello shade mixed with the cappuccino shade is the one I use for concealing my under eye area and for highlighting, it works a treat.

For the contouring it really depends on what look I am going for on a particular day. I really like how the shades are an all rounder, you can go for a more natural contour or a more heavy contour for a dramatic look.

What products do you use to contour and highlight? I’d love to hear them:)

Review||| My experience on the (Non Peroxide) Billion Dollar Smile Teeth Whitening Strips

I was really excited to try out the Billion Dollar Smile Teeth Whitening Strips. These teeth whitening strips do not contain peroxide, instead the active ingredient is sodium chloride. Which means its a safer option for your teeth. The home kit contains 28 teeth whitening strips, in which 14 are for the top teeth and 14 for the bottom teeth. The time frame that is required is fifteen minutes each day. Which I thought was great for the result I did get. It also has a tooth shade guide on the top of the box and instructions on how to use them on the back, which I thought was really helpful.

Now I have been trialling these strips for 14 days myself and I have definitely noticed a difference in the whiteness of my teeth. On first application I found them quite easy to place on my teeth, no fuss. I like the way the strips are clear, they are so discreet no one can even notice that they are on. I didn’t experience any burning or tingling sensations. I would recommend rinsing your mouth really well, after removing the strips as parts of the gel can be left on your teeth. I did also have to use a tooth brush to get rid of the excess gel but this did remove all of it in the end. It does state on the box to avoid smoking, coloured food and drink twenty four hours after each treatment so just to beware of this if you would like to try them out for yourself. I did follow this, as I wanted to achieve the best results possible.

This is what the packaging looks like

Basic But Chic (the basic white t-shirt)

Basic, simple pieces and staying glam at the same time. A basic tee is something every one has in their wardrobe and there are so many ways to wear one. It is definitely a staple wear, regardless of the shape or style. The spring weather has been good so I have been recently wearing these outfits as daytime looks.

For this first look, I teamed the white tee with a quilted skort (both from boohoo). I was super happy with the quality of this tee, it’s so soft. I know it’s a slogan tee but I couldn’t resist it. I just love slogan wear hehe.

Beating Stress

Hope everyone is having a Happy Easter.

All people suffer from stress sometime in their life’s, it just apart of life and the difficulties we experience whilst living. Here are some tips to manage it:

Do something you love

Take time out to make sure your not in work overload. In order to reduce stress it is important to spent time doing activities and events you enjoy. Finding time to include these into everyday life is key. This will not only increase your chances of maintaining a good mood but you will also have a clearer head and feel more at ease to tackle a situation.

Exercise is good

Whether it is doing yoga or just going to the gym. Exercise is a great way to relieve stress. It lessens the amounts of cortisol and adrenaline, the body’s stress hormones. When we exercise endorphins are released that enhances our mood and it also distracts from any stresses or worries we might have.

Arrive Early

Who likes arriving to places late? nobody, but sometimes we do find ourselves in these positions. We do know how stressful this can be right? I myself know all about it. Allocating enough time to get to a place on time can make it a more positive experience.

Helping Others

Studies have shown that providing a helping hand to others actually has beneficial effects on our health. Focussing your attention in doing a good deed helps to lessen stress levels and in turn increases your life. HelpfulPeeps is a website where people can request help and where others can offer help.

We all heard that saying that laughter is the best medicine, but it really is. It relieves both stress and anxiety. When we laugh it automatically makes us feel better, happier and gives us a relaxed feeling. It is also good for a bodies aswell. It increases our oxygen flow, raises levels of circulation, releases endorphins that make us feel good and increases the immune system. Go on, have a good laugh.

Eating Blueberries

Blueberries is a great superfood for reducing stress. They are packed with vitamin C that relieves stress which helps the body overcome it.

Hope you find these tips helpful:)

The Body Shop ||| Brow & Liner Kit Review

I have been a fan of the Body Shop for a while now. I have tried some of their products in the past and was really impressed with the quality of them. I wandered into the store to have a quick look  and since I had ran out of brow powder I decided to gave their brow and liner kit a buy. I had no way of knowing what this product was like, as all the testers had been used up in the store. I was a bit sceptical in the beginning but I think everyone’s like this when trying a new product out (or maybe that’s just me hehe).

The brow kit comes in three different shades which are: number one blonde & auburn, number two brunette & brown and number three brown & black. It is both dermatologically and ophthalmologically tested. It also has a mirror, which is really handy. It is priced at 15.50 euro.

Now the shade I got was the number three, every kit has both a light and dark colour. This is the brown to black shade. There is a two sided brush included in the kit but I have to say I found this difficult to work with. Unfortunately I since binned it (after I had taken the pictures for this post). I wasn’t able to place the product in the area I desired and it was so rough. It also didn’t take up much product either so I had to use one of my other brow brushes instead.

Brow & Liner Kit – The Body Shop

The brow powder itself has a creamy texture and is blendable. You don’t need to use alot of the powder, a little goes a long way. I didn’t experience any fall out either. Using both colours I found gave a more natural look to my brows. Using the darker colour alone, gave me a more bold and defined brow. Another good thing about the kit is that it is so compact and weightless, you can bring it anywhere without weighing down your bag. Girl’s you know what I’m talking about! It lasts all day long too, I didn’t have to reapply any product whatsoever.

I would definitely purchase this brow kit again, I was really happy with it:)

Have you tried any of the body shop products? What brow products are you guys currently using? I would really like to hear:)

The Crobar ||| UK’S First Cricket Flour Energy Bar

I was kindly sent one cacao & cricket flour and one peanut & cricket flour bar by Christine from Gathr Foods. They are far from the ordinary health food bars. These are high protein energy bars which contain cricket powder. Each bar consisting of 32 crickets (6% of the whole bar) and other natural ingredients depending on the flavour.

Now for the facts. There are benefits to eating crickets (insects) believe it or not! Crickets are an natural source of protein, iron , containing  B vitamins, omega-3, vital amino acids and supplies dietary fibre. Another good thing about these bars is that they are also gluten, dairy, grain, GMO and soy free.

Insects have little chances of passing on diseases to humans like mad cow disease and the H1N1 as stated by the UN report. They have high amounts of protein equivalent to beef 60g per 100g to be precise. Than beef, they actually contain three times more iron, five times more magnesium and two times more zinc. Crickets are 80% digestible compared to cows being 40%, due to this being more efficient less pesticides are being used. They don’t possess the neurological structures that humans and animals have, meaning they don’t feel pain. In cricket farming no pesticides, antibiotics or hormones are used.

The Crobars are produced in the UK made only from natural ingredients, and do not contain any sugar. The cricket flour is sourced from Canada by a reputable cricket farmer in which the crickets are on an organic diet. You can purchase the crobars on the gathrfoods website. There are four options to choose from: the sample crobar which is two bars of each flavour, mixed crobar which is a box of 12 bars (6 peanut & cricket flour + 6 cacao & cricket flavour), a box of 12 cacao & cricket flavour and a box of 12 peanut & cricket flavour.

The packaging it is presented in, is quite pretty, I like the choice of colours used.

The first bar I tried was the cocoa and cricket flavour, this one was my favourite. It smelled chocolatey. On first bite it definitely wasn’t something I was expecting, it tasted like dark chocolate with hints of both a bitter and sweet flavour. It was a real pleasant taste and  would definitely try again. The ingredients in this bar are: cricket flour, goji berries, cashews, sunflower seeds, sultanas, cranberries, cacao powder, cacao nibs, cacao butter and chia seeds.

Cocao and cricket flavour Crobar

Then it was the peanut and cricket flavour. Now I’m not a big fan of peanuts in general so this one didn’t tickle my taste buds. It smelled like peanuts. If you like peanuts then you will like this bar as it tastes like peanut butter with hints of sweet flavour. The ingredients in this bar are: cricket flour, peanuts, dates, sunflower seeds and sultanas.

Peanut and cricket flavour Crobar

Like most health food bars the texture in both bars was also very crunchy and chewy. I could not taste any insects in any of the bars. They are filling, you wouldn’t be left hungry after eating one either. They are packed mostly with natural ingredients, most of which are from organic ingredients meaning they are free of artificial flavourings, colours and preservatives.

I was quite intrigued by these bars from the beginning. The whole idea of insects being contained in protein bars is very different, indeed. I think it will be something we are going see lots of in the future. The Crobars have already won the Best New Food Concept at the World Innovation Awards 2016.

Would you eat bars that contained insects? Leave a comment below I would love to hear your views on this:)
